Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• NC Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification required.
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with high school completion.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid NC driver’s license for the vehicle operated.
• Must meet NC Training and Standards Commission requirements.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned area to detect and deter crime and traffic violations.
• Responds to calls including domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, and traffic accidents.
• Conducts preliminary inquiries, field interviews, and follow-up investigations.
• Obtains and serves warrants; arrests and processes offenders.
• Provides assistance and backup to other officers as necessary.
• Provides first aid to victims and assists motorists.
• Directs traffic for events and testifies in judicial proceedings.
• Completes required reports and forms, including accident and incident reports.
