Job summary

The City of Franklin is seeking a Police Officer to patrol assigned areas, enforce state and local laws, respond to calls, investigate incidents, and preserve the safety of the public.

Under limited supervision, you will work in high‑stress conditions, perform traffic control, arrests, reporting, and cooperate with Fire/EMS and other departments. Applicants must be 21+, Tennessee POST certified, possess a valid driver’s license, and be eligible to operate a firearm.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age by September 30, 2026.
• Must be eligible to become Tennessee P.O.S.T. certified.
• Must be eligible to operate a firearm.
• Must possess valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned district by patrol car, bicycle, or on foot to observe and deter criminal activity and ensure public safety.
• Responds to requests for assistance and complaints from the public.
• Identifies hazards, investigates accidents, and reports to the appropriate departments.
• Investigates crimes, interviews witnesses, preserves evidence, and conducts follow-up investigations.
• Arrests suspects and follows proper procedures to ensure safety of officers and the public.
• Enforces state and city laws and maintains equipment upkeep.
• Completes necessary paperwork and supports Fire/EMS personnel when needed.
