Job summary

The City of Westminster seeks a sworn Police Officer to perform patrol and related duties, with the aim of preventing crime and protecting life and property. The role requires working under supervision, handling calls, tests in court, and providing public information.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Specialized training in law enforcement is highly desirable.
• POST Basic Certificate is required or preferred for appointment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the City within an assigned area in a radio dispatched automobile to secure life and property and deter crime.
• Responds to emergency calls and incidents to protect public safety and enforce laws.
• Provides information and assistance to the public and prepares accurate reports and logs.
• Performs community policing duties to maintain high visibility and positive relations with the public.
• Maintains traffic control, stops violators, and assists motorists as needed.
• Makes arrests, secures crime scenes, interviews suspects and witnesses, and handles evidence with care.
