Job summary

Lacey Police Department is seeking an entry-level Police Officer to help maintain public safety in Lacey, Washington. You will patrol areas, respond to calls, and engage with the community to prevent crime and build trust.

The role requires integrity, sound judgment, and strong communication skills. You will complete the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy and ongoing training while serving the City with dedication.

Qualifications

• Must possess High School Diploma or GED and meet experience, education, and training requirements to perform duties.
• Must be at least 21 years old at graduation from law enforcement academy.
• No felony or DV convictions.
• English language proficiency in reading, writing and speaking.
• Must complete Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy and pass background, medical, and fitness requirements.
• Must obtain valid Washington State driver’s license at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas in a police car or on foot to deter crime.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls and conduct investigations.
• Gather evidence, interview witnesses, and document statements; prepare reports and appear in court.
• Establish traffic control and provide protection at incidents; enforce ordinances and DUI investigations.
• Advise supervisor and coordinate with various divisions; may train new officers.
