Job summary

The City of Cocoa Police Department is seeking a Police Officer to patrol, enforce laws, and assist the public across the City of Cocoa, Florida. You will respond to calls, conduct investigations, issue citations, and testify in court as required.

You will perform duties on-site, maintain radio communications, and work under the supervision of a Police Sergeant. Required is a high school diploma or GED and completion of a law enforcement academy; a Florida driver’s license is necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; graduate of an accredited law enforcement academy.
• Valid Florida driver's license; ability to pass background, polygraph/CVSA, drug screen, and field training program.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas by vehicle, foot, or other means and maintains radio contact with Dispatch.
• Responds to calls, secures scenes, interviews witnesses, makes arrests, and writes reports.
• Conducts routine investigations, interviews victims and witnesses, and follows up on cases.
• Responds to major traffic incidents, provides first aid, and coordinates with emergency services.
• Directs traffic at events and intersections; performs duties on-site and may participate in emergencies.
