Job summary

Virtua Health in New Jersey seeks a Per Diem Transporter to move patients between departments, ensuring safety and comfort, and to support clinical teams with timely patient flow.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong communication, and willingness to work on-site; CPR is preferred. The hourly rate ranges from $18.00 to $21.33, with benefits for employees.

• Must be able to handle potentially stressful situations and multi-task.
• Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from departments/units. Includes appropriate patient identification, patient comfort and safety (assisting in lifting, moving and positioning in bed/wheelchair, etc), and providing patient information.
• Care for and clean wheelchairs/stretchers and initiate appropriate action when repair is required (check supply of oxygen, replenish and change regulators as necessary).
• Coordinates with other transporters based on patient schedules to ensure smooth flow of transport operations; communicates patient information to nurses and testing (diagnostic) departments as necessary.

Hourly Rate:

$18.00 - $21.33 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
