Job summary

Advocate Trinity Hospital, part of Advocate Health, is seeking a Patient Transport team member. This role involves identifying patients, selecting appropriate transport, and ensuring safety and privacy during movement throughout the hospital.

You will support staff, handle equipment, and coordinate with departments to maintain smooth patient flow. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

Department: 11598 Advocate Trinity Hospital - Patient Transport

Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Full Time (1.0 FTE) 1:30p-10p Every other weekend Holidays Pay Range: $18.85 - $28.30

Major Responsibilities

1. Identify proper patient to be transported by checking armband
2. Make sure mode of transport is appropriate to patient’s condition
3. Make sure proper precautions are taken for each patient, i.e., oxygen, I-med, foley catheter, chest tube, etc
4. Make sure patient is properly covered to protect their privacy
5. Make sure oxygen tanks are filled daily.
6. Instruct and help new transport staff so they are properly trained
7. Make sure any pertinent patient information is relayed to supervisor or proper department/technician
8. Make sure supervisor or departments are aware of any delays in getting patients
9. Demonstrate a knowledge of institutional policies regarding patient care, fire, safety, infection control, etc. Review department manuals and sign-off supplement
10. Make sure carts are clean and sheets are in place at all times. Report any cart or wheelchair that is not working properly and in need of repair
11. Be able to make film copies.
12. Look up and file patient folders; also write new folders out.
13. Should be able to deal with stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.

• Skills in handling and operation of a variety of transportation equipment.
• ability to tolerate prolonged walking or standing.
• Ability to work weekend, holidays and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing needs.
• This position can recognize needs and behaviors of all age groups. Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses
• If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
