Job description

**Job Description:**

This position is responsible for transporting patients, focusing on quality, safety, and customer service, while providing care and compassion to patients, families, visitors, and staff.

**Job Essentials:**

1. Transports inpatients in a safe and efficient manner.
2. Uses appropriate and approved transport pathways to ensure confidentiality. Utilizes suitable travel methods and equipment as directed.
3. Uses Safe Patient Handling equipment as indicated.
4. Follows isolation precautions and/or standard precautions appropriately.
5. Places soiled linen in designated areas.
6. Dresses carts and wheelchairs with linen as per procedure.
7. Cleans transport equipment before and after each patient transport and returns it to the appropriate storage areas.
8. Responds to emergency codes (Disaster, Green, Pink, Red, Yellow) as required. Knows the location of fire extinguishers and pull boxes.
9. Notifies the patient nurse when transporting patients to/from rooms and informs test site staff upon patient arrival for tests.
10. Utilizes the written Patient Handoff Form, ensuring it is completed before transport, signed, and submitted immediately afterward.
11. Writes the test location on the patient room whiteboard when leaving with a patient.
12. Reports any issues during transport concerning patient condition or safety to the nurse or test site staff.
13. Responds promptly and effectively to communication devices such as pagers or Vocera badges.
14. Maintains open communication with operators and staff members.
15. Informs test sites and operators of delays and clears transports upon completion.
16. Communicates delays in transport to test sites.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

• BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Must be at least 18 years old to work in Radiology areas (per Intermountain's Employment of Minors Policy).

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Previous experience in a hospital environment.

• Carrying, Hearing/Listening, Lifting, Pushing/Pulling, Seeing, Speaking, Walking, Standing.

**Scheduled Weekly Hours:**

0 (hourly range: $16.56 - $21.53, dependent on experience)
