Saint Francis Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Patient Transporter to greet patients and visitors and provide transportation across departments, moving patients, supplies and equipment to required destinations.

The role requires excellent customer service, communication, and adherence to safety protocols. The transporter will follow infection control standards, assist with transfers, and support dispatch and cross-training initiatives within the department.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: None.
  • Licensure/certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 months of hire.
  • Work experience: None.

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients to and from designated areas; communicates delays or concerns to dispatcher.
  • Transports equipment, supplies, and materials following safety procedures.
  • Greets patients courteously and assists in lifting and transferring patients to beds, chairs, stretchers, and vehicles.
  • Answers general information questions about the health system and provides directions to visitors as needed.
  • Cleans transport equipment and reports malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Maintains infection control and safety standards and participates in required in-services and CPR recertification.

Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to greet and acknowledge patients in a friendly, professional manner. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to read, write and understand instructions and safety signage. Ability to meet the physical requirements and working conditions of the job.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Transports patients to and from designated areas; communicates any transport delays or concerns; maintains continuous contact with departmental dispatch. Transports equipment, supplies, and other materials while following all safety procedures. Greets patients promptly and courteously while assisting in lifting and transferring patients to and from beds, chairs, stretchers, and/or vehicles. Answers general information questions about the health system and provides directions to visitors, as needed. Cleans transport equipment, including changing linens and reports any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. Remains alert for and reports any unusual circumstances observed on transport assignments to the dispatcher, so security team members may be notified. Ensures compliance with all standards of body substance isolation, infection control and hazardous material; attends all required in-services and maintains CPR recertification, as needed. Attends cross training sessions to help ease service needs across the department. Assists with training new team members, as needed.Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
