Job summary

Jefferson Health Northeast in Langhorne, PA seeks a Patient Transport Associate to move patients between inpatient rooms, clinical testing areas and procedural spaces using wheelchairs or stretchers. You will verify patient identity, monitor for changes, and report to the nurse in charge.

You will assist with transferring non-monitored patients, maintain clean equipment, follow safety policies, and participate in disaster drills as part of a dedicated care team.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients by stretcher or wheelchair to clinical service areas for treatment or diagnostic studies and returns them to their room.
• Verifies patient identity prior to transport and reports completion to the nurse in charge.
• Maintains cleanliness of wheelchairs, stretchers and equipment; notifies staff of damaged equipment.
• Assists with turning, lifting and transferring patients and adheres to safety policies during movement.

Reports intended transport or return of patient to the nurse in charge of area. Observespatients for adverse changes in condition or appearance during transport. Verifies transport task withperson at location of assignment and reports completion of assignment as appropriate. Responsible forassuring that equipment is properly assembled, cleaned, maintained and delivered.Job DescriptionEssential Functions Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.(Do not delete, move or over-write this statement) Follows safety policies and procedures concerning lifting, moving and transporting patients. Transports or transfers non-monitored/stable patients as directed. Ensures IV drip rates and sites, oxygen volume flow or other special equipment and appliances arechecked by staff RN prior to patient transport, observing equipment during transport and notifiesRN of any changes. Follows procedures for properly identifying patients prior to transport to or from a service area. Transports assigned patients by means of designated conveyance (stretcher or wheelchair) toclinical service areas for treatment or diagnostic studies, returning patient to room at theappropriate time. Observes patients for adverse changes in condition or appearance during transport, notifyingRegistered Nurse immediately. Reports intended transport or return of patient to nurse assigned to patient. Ensures stretcher pads are wiped down and sanitized appropriately.. This is a job junction for NJ. Assists staff in turning, lifting and transferring patients from bed/treatment tables to stretchers andwheelchairs. Maintains cleanliness of wheelchairs, stretchers, and equipment. Notifies appropriate personnel of any damaged or unserviceable equipment, following establishedsafety policies concerning labeling such equipment and removing them from use immediately. Assists with post-mortem transport Maintains a clean and organized work area as directed by Director or designee of assigned unit. Follows all isolation/contamination policies and procedures in assigned work areas. Possesses knowledge and understanding of patient transport associate role in event of a disaster(internal or external). Participates in disaster drills.
