Job summary

Prisma Health in Sumter, SC is seeking a nurse tech/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide direct patient care in the Medical Stepdown Unit. The role includes performing EKGs, basic nursing tasks, and maintaining patient records.

Responsibilities include safe care delivery, timely communication with staff and families, and proper use of equipment. Prior CNA/CMA or nursing fundamentals training is preferred; hospital experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; CNA/CMA training or nursing fundamentals required; EKG course preferred.
• Experience: 1 year nurse tech hospital or skilled nursing facility if education requirements are not fully met.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, multiple treatments, waived testing and transports assigned patients.
• Performs EKGs.
• Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation.
• Communicates and informs appropriate personnel, patients and family members in a timely manner.
• Utilizes equipment and supplies safely; orders supplies as needed; labels specimens correctly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides direct care as assigned. Performs electrocardiograms as assigned. May require access to storage areas where medications are kept and carry out procedures that require the use of non-prescription medications.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of tech training course as evidenced by Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) course or nursing fundamentals from accredited organization required.Successful completion of an EKG course for portable EKG preferred.Medical Assistant Training acceptable.

• Experience - One (1) year nurse tech hospital experience or skilled nursing facility is required if the candidate does not meet all of the educational requirements. Previous CNA/CMA experience preferred. Previous NT experience preferred. Six (6) months EKG experience preferred.

In Lieu Of

• In lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course, will accept current or former state CN A certification as proof of completed state required training at time of hire.

• In lieu of school verification of a medical assistant training course, will accept current or former CMA certification as proof of completed required training at time of hire.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

• Candidates must successfully complete PH EKG course and training within 90 days of hire

• CPR/BLS certification
