Job summary

Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care on the Medical Stepdown Unit during Day shifts. This role supports compassionate care and patient safety within a fast-paced environment.

You will follow unit protocols, maintain documentation, and collaborate with nursing staff to ensure high-quality care for patients under your scope.

Qualifications

• Completion of Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course.
• Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience preferred.
• In lieu of education/experience, related coursework or certifications may be considered as substitution.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and informs appropriate personnel, patients and family members of pertinent information in a timely manner.
• Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation.
• Utilizes equipment and supplies safely and appropriately; orders supplies as needed; labels specimens correctly.
• Performs basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, multiple treatments, waived testing and transports assigned patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course.

• Experience - Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience preferred.

• In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, the following combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered an equivalent substitution:

• required coursework, will accept 1 year of related healthcare experience.

• nursing assistant training course, will accept current or former state CNA certification as proof of completed state required training at time of hire.

• school verification of a medical assistant training course, will accept current or former CMA certification as proof of completed required training at time of hire.
