Job summary

UCSF Health in San Francisco is seeking an Environmental Services worker to perform general cleaning tasks within patient care areas under supervision. You will follow Infection Control policies and ensure a clean, safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include cleaning occupied patient rooms, rooms between patients, disposing of waste, and handling soiled linen while using approved cleaning chemicals. Basic arithmetic and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior hospital, skilled nursing facility, or hotel cleaning experience preferred.
• Must read, speak, and understand English; good verbal and written communication.
• Basic arithmetic skills required.

Under the immediate supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, the incumbent performs the followings duties adhering to UCSF & department policies and procedures:

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

90%: GENERAL CLEANING TASKS:
Following Infection Control Policies, the employee maintains a clean, sanitary, safe, and esthetically pleasing environment for patients, staff, and visitors
Cleans occupied patient rooms, and rooms between patients (discharges) following department procedures
Cleans other assigned areas within the Patient Care Units
Disposes of waste (trash, bio hazardous waste, recycling) and soiled linen following departmental procedures
Uses approved cleaning chemicals to maintain the cleanliness of assigned areas
Uses proper body mechanics and body alignment when moving furniture and equipment when perform your duties
Complete the training for Medications and Auxiliary Staff Competency

10%: OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other related duties as instructed by immediate supervisor. Inspects your own work, reports missing furniture, repairs needed; report fire or safety hazards. Respond to emergencies following established procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous hospital, skilled nursing facility, or hotel cleaning experience is required.
• Is able to organize and prioritize work.
• Must possess good verbal and written communications skills.
• Must read, speak, and understand English.
• Basic arithmetic skills are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Computer (PC) experience is preferred.
