Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ is seeking a Patient Sitter who will provide constant attendance to a designated patient to ensure safety and stability. The role requires close observation and immediate reporting of any changes to the assigned nurse.

Working under the direction of the Staff Nurse, the sitter must stay with the patient at all times, adhering to safety protocols and training requirements, including Handle with Care and Sitter Training, with annual refreshers and bi-annual drills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• Complete Handle with Care and Sitter Training Courses prior to role.
• Must attend Handle with Care Training annually and participate in bi-annual drills.

• FIT Testing required.
• Must attend Handle with Care Training annually and participate in bi-annual drills.
