Job summary

Aramark is seeking a Patient Services Worker Lead to manage the receipt, interpretation, and execution of patient diet orders in hospital or long-term care settings. You will liaise between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services, and Nursing Services, and assist in training other workers.

Role includes delivering meals and nourishments, verifying diet orders, maintaining sanitation, and supporting clinical staff to ensure patient nutrition needs are met.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Patient Services Worker is required.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English; bilingual preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Delivers and collects patient trays during meal service.
• Delivers nourishments and snacks to patients as ordered.
• Visits patients to introduce the Food and Nutrition Services.
• Obtain patient food preferences from patients or family.
• Communicate all patient food needs within Food and Nutrition Services.
• Ensure diet orders are followed with appropriate menu selections.
• Maintain sanitation standards per schedules.
• Complete other sanitation tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Train and support other Patient Services Workers.
• Inventory and restock pantries, refrigerators, freezers.
• Maintain temperature logs for unit refrigerators and freezers.
• Understand therapeutic diets and seek help if errors occur.
• Assist clinical staff to meet patients' basic nutrition needs.

Patient Services Worker Leads are responsible for a variety of specialized duties related to the receipt, interpretation, and follow-through of patient diet orders in hospital and long-term care settings. Acts as a liaison between the patient, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services. Helps train and support other Patient Services Workers.

Job Responsibilities

• Delivers and collects patient trays during meal service.
• Delivers nourishments and/or snacks to patients as ordered by physician/dietitian in a timely manner.
• Visits patients to introduce the services of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
• May obtain food preferences/dislikes from patients and/or family members.
• Communicate all patient food needs to the appropriate area of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
• Ensures that nutrition diet care orders are provided to the patient by offering appropriate menu selections.
• Maintains and adheres to all sanitation standards by following assigned cleaning schedules.
• Completes other sanitation tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Relief Supervisor.
• Train and support Patient Services Workers in their roles supporting patients / residents.
• Inventories and re-stocks pantries, refrigerator, and freezers on assigned unit(s).
• Maintains temperature logs for unit refrigerators and freezers.
• Understands therapeutic diets using established protocols and seeks assistance from Supervisor or Dietitian if an error is observed.
• Assists the clinical staff in ensuring all patients' basic nutrition care needs are met.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Patient Services Worker required
• Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Bilingual abilities preferred, but not required.

This role may have physical demands including but not limited to lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended standing or walking. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
