Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Patient Services Representative (PSR) focused on prior authorizations in the Neurology at the ACC group. You will manage and coordinate prior authorizations for procedures, imaging, referrals, and medications to keep patients moving through the care pathway.

You will work with providers, insurance carriers, and clinical teams to ensure timely approvals, accurate documentation, and smooth patient experiences.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in revenue cycle or patient access is preferred.
• Prior Authorization Certification Specialist (PACS) Certification preferred.
• Neurology/Neurosurgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, submit, and track prior authorization requests for procedures, tests, referrals, and medications.
• Review provider orders and documentation for completeness before submission.
• Communicate with insurance carriers about approvals, denials, and information requests.
• Follow up on pending authorizations to prevent delays in patient care.
• Document authorization status and outcomes in the EMR.
• Inform providers of determinations and next steps.
• Coordinate scheduling of services after authorization is obtained.
