UPMC Mercy Vision Institute in Pittsburgh's Mercy Pavilion is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support our ophthalmology practice. You will handle patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and check-in/check-out processes, with daytime hours Monday through Friday and variable start times.

This fast-paced clinic serves hundreds of patients daily; you will ensure smooth operations with warm patient greetings, MyUPMC portal assistance, and HIPAA-compliant care.

Qualifications

• Responsibilities include patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, check-in/check-out processes, and supporting efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities

• Help patients navigate the healthcare system and provide follow-up for unresolved questions to ensure continuity of care.
• Assist with administrative duties in the office including scanning of medical records and faxing.
• Guide patients through self-arrival technology or check-in at desk.
• Schedule or connect patients to resources to schedule ancillary services at checkout.
• Promote MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients in registration when applicable.
• Collect copayments and any other applicable patient payments at the point of service.
• Register patients in Biometrics program and explain benefits.
• Confirm/update patient registration information at checkout.
• Triage phone calls and route to appropriate areas or providers.
• Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkout.
