Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily clinic preparation tasks including patient identification, check-in/out, charge posting, cash management, appointment scheduling, patient registration and account setup, and phone handling.
  • Uses telephone system to take and deliver messages to physicians, nurses and others.
  • Records and reports patient medical information from referrals promptly and accurately.
  • Maintains professional conduct and acts as a role model in the workplace.
  • Manages all incoming patient care requests related to in-basket activities, referrals, work queues and calls.
  • Understands insurance coverage rules, completes mandatory training and refreshers, and initiates prior authorizations as needed.

Overview

The Patient Services Representative 1 coordinates and participates in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation process, patient identification, patient check-in, charge posting, cash management and basic patient appointment scheduling. Conveys a positive image and provides information to ensure patients' needs are met.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and participates in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation process including patient identification, patient check-in/out, charge posting, cash management, patient appointment scheduling, patient registration and account set-up, phone calls.
  • Competent in telephone system, takes and delivers messages to physicians, nurses and others.
  • Reports medical information obtained from patients and referring physicians accurately, completely and in a timely manner. Distributes all messages according to practice communication standards.
  • Serves as a role model by conducting self in a responsible, professional manner.
  • Manages all incoming patient care requests related to in-basket activities, referrals, work queue activity, and incoming telephone calls.
  • Proficient with insurance coverage rules and rules that apply to eligibility, network coverage, and benefits. Successful completion of mandatory insurance training and ongoing competency refreshers.
  • Competent to initiate and secure prior authorizations as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $17.67 per hour - $28.63 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
