Job summary

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers in Pueblo is seeking an experienced Patient Service Coordinator to support front-office operations. The role involves scheduling patients, managing referrals, and coordinating appointments with physicians and clinics.

Candidates should have a High School diploma, 3 years of office experience (medical preferred), and strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel are required.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules new patients and return appointments in the computer system per physician/office guidelines.

  • Collects co-pays and other out-of-pocket amounts at visit and maintains scheduling book.
  • Handles incoming calls from patients needing to schedule or reschedule appointments.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality and follows front office policies and procedures.

Overview

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Patient Service Coordinator in Pueblo.

Whether we are a nurse holding our patient’s hand, or a scheduler on the phone finding an appointment that fits into a patient’s schedule, we are deeply connected to our patients and do what we can to help.

Salary Range: $18.00-$24.00

Responsibilities
  • Schedules new patients and return appointments in computer system in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines. Cancels/reschedules appointments according to physician schedule changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
  • Obtains and enters all authorization and correspondence relating to referrals in patients charts and computer.
  • Schedules outpatient appointments/testing and hospital admissions upon request.
  • Obtains necessary pre-certification as required.-Handles new patient referrals, gathers necessary information, assigns the patient account number and schedules appointment.
  • Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit.-Maintains primary office scheduling book containing all physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage.
  • Handles incoming phone calls from patients needing to schedule or reschedule appointments.
  • Provides patients with accurate and legible appointment cards. Documents no shows in patient’s chart for missed visits. Follows up with patient to reschedule any missed appointments. -Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.
  • Covers for other front office functions as requested

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. Position requires at least 3 year office experience, medical office preferred. Have excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Proficiency with computer systems a requirement. Microsoft (Outlook, Word, and Excel) a plus.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range for telephone contacts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.

All qualified candidates are required to pass a background check and non-federal drug test (which excludes marijuana) post offer of employment and prior to hire.

Candidates will be required to show proof of being vaccinated against influenza upon commencing employment. Reasonable accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis for exemptions to this requirement in accordance with applicable law.
