Job summary

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic is hiring a Patient Service Technician to perform venipuncture, specimen collection, and CLIA waived tests across pediatric and adult patients. You will maintain detailed laboratory records and ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures.

The role requires a High School Diploma, BLS within 30 days, and 2–3 years of phlebotomy or related experience along with basic computer skills. EPIC experience is a plus, and bilingual abilities are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must obtain BLS within 30 days of employment.
• 2+ years phlebotomy program or 3+ years in a patient service center with waived testing experience.
• Complete KSC review/skill validation within 90 days of hire.
• Experience with computers and Windows-based software.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

The Patient Service Technician (PST) will:

• Perform pediatric and adult venipunctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, and other collection services as ordered by the provider
• Perform CLIA waived testing (i.e. urine dip, pregnancy tests, finger stick blood glucose levels, fecal occult blood tests, rapid influenza tests, finger stick PT/INR, monospots, sed rates, rapid streps) as described in the laboratory procedure manual with minimal/no supervision
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and make available for inspections /audits by Lab Supervisor, Lab Director, Lab Consultant and CLIA Surveyors
• Perform necessary quality controls; participate in proficiency testing program as required
• Maintain lab instruments as indicated by manufacturer recommendations and will follow all safety guidelines in effect

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited school
• Must obtain BLS within 30 days of employment
• 2+ years of experience required if completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program OR 3 years of directly related experience as a phlebotomist in a patient service center, clinic, or hospital setting with 1+ years of waived testing and specimen processing experience in clinical setting
• Those hired into this position must complete the KSC review/skill validation program within 90 days of hire
• Experience with computers and Windows-based software
• Ability to use related equipment
• Ability to speak, write and understand English
• Ability to practice good customer service principles and practices

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Phlebotomist and Certified/Registered Medical Assistant
• Member of an accredited phlebotomy National organization
• Prior EPIC experience
• Knowledge of electronic medical record systems
• Bi-lingual
• Ability to use Microsoft software applications including Word and Excel
  

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
