Patient Service Specialist – Radiology Administration – Full Time

Position Summary: Hours: 11:30am‑8pm. The Patient Service Specialist provides direct, daily operational front‑office support in a manner consistent with Guthrie Medical Group’s Service Excellence Standards. The role continually demonstrates patient centeredness, teamwork, and excellence in daily performance.

Education, License & Cert

High School diploma/GED required. Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant school preferred.

Experience

Minimum 1 year in a customer‑service‑related field preferred. Medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Comfortable with computers and learning new applications.

Essential Functions
  • Greet every patient in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
  • Answer telephones friendly and efficiently in conjunction with Guthrie’s Telephone Standards, screen calls, take messages, and provide information.
  • Schedule and maintain all patient appointments electronically, verify patient information at time of scheduling, assign B# / MRN to new patients, and edit appointment schedule under direction of practice management.
  • Register patient, verify and correct patient demographic and insurance information, scan current insurance cards into the confidential medical record.
  • Verify eligibility for major insurance carriers including New York and Pennsylvania Medical Assistance to ensure accurate billing. Complete various insurance forms, pre‑certifications, and referrals if applicable.
  • Inform, quote, and collect copayments, insurance deductibles, deposits, or unpaid balances at time of registration per Guthrie Medical Group, P.C.’s policies and guidelines.
  • Perform daily cash‑out and balancing in accordance with the Patient Cash Control Policy if applicable.
  • Serve as liaison between patients, physicians, hospital staff, and other departments, keeping them fully aware of all necessary information and informing patients of any delays.
  • Adhere to departmental and organizational policies and attend meetings/huddles as required.
  • Prioritize daily tasks simultaneously in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing work environment within a strong team structure.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient health information in accordance with HIPAA compliance.
  • Assist with and complete other projects or duties as assigned, including participating in all quality initiatives established by the organization.
