Qualifications

• Ability to type at least 40 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Performs opening and closing clinic duties.
• Greets patients, checks in for appointments and verifies insurance.
• Scans documents into the electronic health record.
• Maintains tidiness of waiting area and reception counter.
• Monitors schedules for added, canceled or no-show appointments.
• Schedules follow-up appointments as needed.
• Responds to tasks in the electronic health record.
• Orders clinic office supplies.
• Sells and tracks cosmetic products.
• Distributes mail.
• Prepares for next day appointments.

Summary

The Patient Service Representative is responsible for the patient check-in process, updating computer patient personal information and insurance information, handling a multi‑line phone system, medical records filing and maintenance, and collection of co‑pays and cash payments.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• 1+ years of recent medical office experience or in a similar capacity is preferred
• Proficient in basic computer functions
• Ability to learn new software quickly
• Must possess excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm is preferred
• Must possess attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
• Ability to respond positively to constructive feedback and direction from supervisors
• Must demonstrate professional appearance and manner at all times
• Must display a friendly, cheerful, tactful, and polite demeanor, and must be compassionate and caring in dealing with others
