Responsibilities

  • Greets and provides intake services to departmental visitors and screens calls.
  • Monitors patients in waiting areas and assists with basic observations.
  • Processes calls within three rings and routes to appropriate personnel.
  • Contacts physician offices to obtain orders for exams and coordinates examinations.
  • Screens and processes requests for records and handles release of records.
  • Knowledge of HIS/RIS, Lobby, Passport, transport system and PACS; assists with workflow.
  • Demonstrates caring language and Complete Connected.Care principles.
  • Offers help when workload permits.

The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. An entry level role that typically requires little to no prior knowledge or experience, work is routine or follows standard procedures, work is closely supervised, and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.

This position, under the supervision of the Manager and Director, performs and oversees services in a designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greets and provides intake services to all departmental visitors and screens incoming calls. Reviews documentation to identify clinical status and communicates with modalities.
  • Continuously monitors patients in waiting room and stretcher holding areas. Assists patients or seeks additional clinical support when necessary. Make basic observations and reports them to licensed staff, practices universal precautions, assists with bedpan and emesis basins; assists in lifting, transporting and ambulating patients.
  • Processes incoming and interoffice call rapidly, courteously and accurately (within 3 rings). Assists callers in any way possible by routing to appropriate personnel within the department. Employee meets work efficiency productivity standards for symposium.
  • Contacts physician’s offices to obtain written orders for exams when necessary. Obtains registration data and coordinates multiple examinations with multiple department sections.
  • Screens and processes requests for records from patients, insurance companies, lawyers, physicians, hospital departments, and other facilities. Executes the release and return of records to patients. Contacts other facilities to obtain previous exams as needed.
  • Possesses general knowledge of HIS/RIS, Lobby, Passport, transport system and PACS. Will assist with the department workflow by escorting patients to and from the exam rooms and filling supplies.
  • Uses language of caring and other tools to enhance communication and exceed patient/physician expectations by demonstrating the principles of Complete Connected.Care.
  • Recognizes when others are in need of assistance and consistently offers help when own workload permits.
Physical Requirements
  • Works under normal office conditions, with occasional exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Constant contact with patients, families, visitors, delivery people, taxi companies, physicians, etc.
