Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Patient Scheduler to join our team. The role involves handling high volumes of calls, scheduling appointments, and entering patient demographics and insurance information into EMR systems.

You will coordinate with clinical staff to ensure availability and preauthorizations for scheduled visits. The successful candidate will have 1+ year in customer service, preferably healthcare, and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• 1+ year working in customer service, preferably in healthcare.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Experience with using EMR/electronic systems and basic computer tools (email, data retrieval, voicemail, internet).

Responsibilities

• Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
• Communicates with medical and clinical staff to ensure facility and staff availability and preauthorizations at scheduling.
• Communicates with patients and families to provide pre-procedure instructions and confirm appointments.
• Intakes demographics, insurance information, and pre-authorizations for all scheduled encounters.
