Job summary

TriStar Summit Medical Center in Nashville, TN is seeking a Patient Sitter / Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) to provide continuous observation for high-risk patients and to assist with basic daily living activities. The PSA collaborates with the care team to maintain a safe environment and minimize risk of falls and self-harm.

The role emphasizes direct patient supervision, safe transportation during procedures, and accurate documentation of patient status.

Qualifications

• BLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting or current enrollment in a healthcare field of study preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain direct line of sight with patient at all times, including with family/visitors in the room.
• Accompany patient during transportation, testing, and procedures away from the patient’s room.
• Create a safe environment using fall prevention, infection control, and self-harm prevention protocols.
• Document patient status and activity clearly during shift.
• Assist nursing staff with transporting patients, delivering equipment and supplies, and answering phones.
• Be an active health care team member and support colleagues and patients.
