Job summary

JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Night Shift Patient Safety Assistant for the House Operations Unit. The PSA will help create a safe environment by monitoring patients at risk, notifying the assigned nurse, and supporting daily living activities while documenting observations per policy.

Responsibilities

• Observes and monitors patients identified to be at risk for self-harm, fall, or behavioral impairment.
• Notifies the patient’s nurse when risk is detected or when the patient needs assistance.
• Attends to activities of daily living and reports vital signs and inputs/outputs to the primary nurse.
• Documents patient behavior according to District policy 910-032 during their shift using required forms or reporting systems.
• Staff may be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) assists in providing a safe environment for patients with identified risks and reduce potential for injury to themselves or others. The PSA will perform functions to enable compliance with JPS Health Network policies and procedures, and Joint Commission accreditation standards.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

• Observes and monitors patients identified to be at risk for self-injury, fall, and/or otherwise behaviorally impaired.
• Notifies the patient’s nurse when patient displays actions or behaviors suggesting the patient will cause harm to themselves or others or when the patient is unable to utilize the call light and is requesting assistance.
• Attends to patients activities of daily living and will obtain and report vital signs and intake and output to the primary nurse.
• Documents patient behavior according to District policy 910-032 during their assigned shift using all required forms or reporting systems as appropriate.
