Marshall B. Ketchum University seeks aPatient Relations Representative to be the central contact at the University Eye Center in Anaheim Hills. You will greet patients, verify insurance eligibility, schedule appointments, check in/out, and ensure accurate data entry and billing.

The role supports doctors and interns, assists with front desk tasks, and helps manage off-site locations and recruitment mailings, requiring good computer skills and a friendly, flexible approach.

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED required; six months related experience and/or training.
• Computer skills and data entry ability are essential.
• Flexibility to work some evenings and Saturdays.
• Spanish language ability is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors and verify insurance eligibility when scheduling appointments.
• Check patients in for appointments and assist with walk-ins.
• Enter and update patient information and billing/diagnosis codes in the system.
• Collect payments and reconcile at checkout.
• Assist with off-site exam locations and mass mailings as needed.
• Support physicians, interns, and front desk staff as required.

The Patient Relations Representative is the central point of contact for the University Eye Center (Anaheim Hills). The Patient Relations Representative will greet patients and visitors, verify insurance eligibility, make appointments, assist walk-ins, check- in patients presenting for services and problem solve patient issues. This role is responsible for accurately collecting and entering patient information into the practice management system. The Patient Relations Representative will ensure appropriate payment is collected and the correct billing and diagnosis codes are accurately entered into the computer.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAbility to use a computer to assist patients, co-workers, and doctors with the following:Schedule patient appointmentsObtain insurance authorizations and verify insurance eligibility when scheduling appointmentsGreet patients entering the reception area and check them in for appointmentsCheck patients out at the cashier area with a smileCreate new patient filesEnter and update patient demographic data in system at check-inScan all intake forms into patients’ electronic medical recordsPage Interns when patients are ready to be seen, and page faculty doctors when their assistance is neededPrint fee sheets for next day appointments and attach any necessary paperwork to each sheet as needed to update existing patient files or create new patient filesObtain insurance authorizations and verify insurance eligibility for all next day appointmentsHelp maintain an electronic appointment reminder systemScan patients’ insurance card(s) into patients’ electronic medical recordsCollect fees from patients in the form of cash, credit, and checksProvide correct change to cash paying patients when necessaryReconcile all payments taken at checkout against what was recorded in the systemCopy forms as needed by doctors and internsAssemble patient intake packetsCreate next day schedule with patient counts and staff shifts/lunchesObtain fee waivers and sliding fee scale forms for patients from supervisorAssist the Doctors and Interns with various requests that are usually performed at the front deskAssist with processing paperwork and payments from several off-site exam locations when necessaryAssist patients with concerns or complaints, referring them to Patient Relations Supervisor when necessaryAssist with mass mailings for patient recruitmentComplete any and all tasks necessary to close and secure the reception and cashier areas at the end of the shift, and to prepare for the next dayCall and/or create documents for patient recallAll other Patient Relations duties as assignedQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
