Job description

Enables patients to secure access to care at PIH Health facilities by performing all tasks related to registration and pre-registration of outpatient and inpatient accounts. Calculates and secures patient liability, including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles in an efficient, accurate, and hospitable manner to ensure that the patient, physician, and hospital’s needs are met.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with staff, patients, guarantors, insurance companies, and physicians.
  2. Demonstrated attention to detail; good English speaking, spelling, reading, and mathematical skills are required.
  3. Ability to learn quickly and follow policies or supervisor instructions.
  4. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel, and the ability to navigate multiple screens efficiently.
  5. At least 1 year of experience in a medical office, hospital, or medical billing setting preferred.
  6. Knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.
  7. Insurance knowledge is required.
  8. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  9. Strict adherence to all HIPAA laws.
  10. Typing speed of 45+ WPM is required.
  11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to act and decide accordingly.
  12. Excellent customer service and phone skills, with a background in the medical industry.
  13. Ability to travel to off-site outpatient locations.
Additional Requirements
  1. One year of experience in a high-volume healthcare facility or medical office with strong computer and customer service skills.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent; continuing education preferred.
  3. Medical terminology knowledge is strongly preferred.
  4. Insurance and billing experience is strongly required.
  5. Valid driver’s license for travel to off-site outpatient locations.
  6. Bilingual skills in Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin) are preferred.
