Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville is seeking a Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) Assistant to join our patient meals team. You will perform a variety of food services for patients and help with cleaning and dish room duties, working in a collaborative environment.

The role emphasizes following recipes and production sheets, proper food handling, stock prep and waste reduction, with benefits including a comprehensive package and retirement plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Some kitchen experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various foods and beverages for patients.
• Always prepare and portion foods following established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets.
• Consistently cover, label, and date foods and stores them properly according to procedures.
• Follow proper food handling techniques (gloves, handwashing, hair covering, no eating on the job, etc.)
• Always prepare and set up food and supplies in sufficient quantity to cover service requirements. Restock as needed.
• Always check daily menu needs and complete advance preparation for the next day.
• Help to reduce cost by minimizing waste and over production.
• Act in a cost conscious manner by utilizing leftovers appropriately.
• Promptly report food shortages, outdated items or any products received in an unacceptable condition.
