Qualifications

• Must hold Texas dental hygiene license and CPR/BLS certification.
• Local anesthesia certification where allowed by state law.
• Thorough periodontal charting habits and ability to read charts.
• Gentle hands and patience with fearful patients.
• New graduates welcome and will be paired with an experienced hygienist.

Responsibilities

• Perform prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, and periodontal maintenance tailored to each patient.
• Complete full periodontal charting and take radiographs on recall interval.
• Screen for oral cancer, decay, and periodontal disease, and flag findings for the doctor.
• Educate patients on home care in a way that changes habits at home.
• Apply fluoride and sealants, and administer local anesthetic where state law allows.
• Maintain complete clinical notes and sterilization standards.
