Job summary

Sanford Broadway Med Ctr in Fargo, ND is seeking a Financial Counseling Representative to help patients understand their financial responsibilities and view options to meet them. You'll answer billing questions, review insurance coverage and Explanation of Benefits, and explain charges.

You will educate patients on copayments and coverage, assist with payment plans and eligibility for assistance programs, and use online systems to prepare cost estimates and process prepayments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Post-secondary education preferred.
• Two years' experience in healthcare service or health insurance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial counseling to explain patients' financial responsibility and payment options.
• Review insurance coverage and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
• Explain charges and denial reasons to patients and assist with payment plans.
• Determine eligibility for payment assistance programs and assist with applications.
• Educate patients on insurance concepts and assist with referrals to Medicaid or other aid.
• Calculate and communicate cost estimates and assist with prepayments as needed.
