Job summary

HCA Healthcare, Inc. is seeking an Eligibility Specialist to screen patients for insurance coverage and government programs, and assist with disability benefit applications. This remote, Mon-Fri role supports timely processing and eligibility determinations while coordinating with patients and agencies.

You will gather medical records, enter data accurately, and advocate for patients seeking SSI/SSDI benefits, contributing to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year related experience required, preferably in healthcare.
• Work from home roles require high speed internet 60 MB download and 10 MB upload.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage, federal and state assistance programs, or hospital charity application.
• Obtain legally relevant medical evidence, physician statements and all other documentation required for eligibility determination.
• Complete and file applications. Initiate and maintain proper follow-up with the patient and government agency caseworkers to ensure timely processing and completion of all mandated applications and accompanying documentation.
• Assist the patient with gathering any additional verifications or medical records and meeting appointment dates and times.
• Provide advocacy work for patients seeking disability benefits through the Social Security Administration (SSI/SSDI) programs and assists with opening claims and assisting with pending claims for the Social Security Administration.
• Ensure all insurance, demographic and eligibility information is obtained and entered into the system accurately. Document progress notes to the patient’s file and the hospital computer system.
