Job Summary

Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units in a healthcare facility, serving patients by helping select, assemble, deliver and pick up meal trays. They are part of the caregiving team, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction through accurate meals delivered at the right time and temperature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Help patients understand menu selections and collaborate with nursing to ensure orders meet nutritional requirements.
• Coordinate with caregivers and culinary team to provide menu alternatives for patients with allergies, sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, religious preferences, or additional selection inquiries.
• Manage tray tickets and assemble meals accurately and in a timely manner; retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
• Comply with regulator agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO guidelines, maintain confidentiality and patient rights under HIPAA policies.
• Follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines when handling food, cleaning work stations, and breaking down patient tray lines.
• Adhere to facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
• Assist dietitians with patients who cannot eat via mouth, are on liquid diets, or require specific calorie counts.
• Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel promptly, following department procedures.
• Complete all daily, weekly, or monthly reports per Morrison Healthcare policies and procedures.
• Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver and push food delivery carts.
