Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• 1–3 years of medical office experience preferred.
• Understanding of medical coding and billing.
• Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, blood-borne pathogens, and related regulations.
• Proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner; ensure smooth patient flow.
• Obtain registration data, insurance information, and photo ID at each encounter.
• Enter patient data into the computer system accurately.
• Verify insurance and collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles per plan.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
• Balance daily charges and safeguard any money received.
• Manage patient charts, arrange referrals, and transmit records as needed with integrity.
• Assist staff as needed and support provider referrals scheduling.
• Keep the lobby clean and stocked with necessary items.
• Identify methods to minimize financial risk and support compliance.
