Job summary

SouthCoast Health is seeking a Full-time/Float Medical Assistant in Pooler to support providers with patient care, clerical tasks, and chart management. You will manage patient flow, assist with exams, and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program or equivalent experience, and active CPR/BLS. Strong communication and patient-service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting training program or Military MA (DD214) or EMT-A/paramedic required.
• Exception may be made for national MA Certification with 2+ years experience following evaluation and approvals.

Responsibilities

• Creates a caring environment focused on patient and family throughout their care.
• Manages patient flow and coordinates with staff to ensure timely services and high patient satisfaction.
• Prepares patient charts, collects history, vitals, medications, and ensures chart completeness in EHR.
• Assists with patient examinations, records findings, and documents care in medical records.
• Reminds patients of preventive services and coordinates care plans across teams.
• Updates care plans and coordinates interventions with quality improvement measures.
• Keeps patient care areas clean and stocked; administers immunizations and injections as ordered.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen collection, EKGs, and basic lab tasks as directed.
