Job summary

Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus is offering a Patient Care Technician (PCT) Trainee program. The course combines classroom instruction, skills lab, and clinical rotations under RN supervision to develop entry-level patient care skills.

The program covers ADLs, basic data collection, and unit logistics, with quizzes, midterm, final, and a final simulation. Successful completion requires 80% or higher, and after completion you may be placed on a unit with potential part-time or full-time

Responsibilities

• PCT Trainee attends training with classroom instruction, skills lab and clinical education under the direction of the RN.
• Performs delegated patient care activities aligned with the age-specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality care.
• Provides for activities of daily living (ADLs); conducts limited data collection and recording; maintains unit supplies and equipment; transports patients; answers call lights, telephone, and Vocera.
• Program is 6 weeks long, with quizzes, a midterm, final exam, and final simulation; successful completion requires an 80% pass rate or higher.
• Upon completion, may be assigned to a unit and considered for part-time (0.6) or full-time (0.9) positions; program does not certify CNA.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

At Franciscan, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) Trainee attends training that includesclassroom instruction, skills lab, and clinical education. Under the direction of the RN, the PCT Trainee performs delegated patient care activities in a manner that is aligned with the age specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality care.

The PCT Trainee is an entry level position whose job functions include but are not limited to providing for a patient's activities of daily living (ADLs); limited screening, collection, and recording of data and information; maintenance of unit supplies and equipment; patient transporting; answering call-lights, telephone, andVocera.

Program Overview:

The course is 6 weeks long; the first 2 weeksare classroombasedand clinical rotationsstart on the 3rdweek. Please note that the schedule could change depending on the clinicalrotation and shift available.

You will be providedwith the necessary books, study materials, and any required equipmentfor the trainee course.

You must provide your own scrubs (royal blue).

The program is comprised ofquizzes, a midterm exam, final exam, and final simulation.

Successful completion of the programis determinedby an 80% pass rate or higher.

Upon Program Completion:

You will be assigned to a unit.( Please noteassignments are based on the needs/availability at the time of program completion.)

You will be eligible for a 0.6 (part-time) or 0.9 (full-time) position at the end of the program, but this does not guarantee you a PCT position.

Please note:This program is not a CNA certification classanddoes not make you eligible to take the state CNAexam.
