Responsibilities include assisting patients under RN supervision, supporting admissions/discharges, and monitoring patient condition. A HS diploma and BLS are required within 90 days; various CNA/NCPCT/EMT certifications are acceptable.

- Minimum requirements: listed certifications/programs (as above).
- One year of prior health care experience preferred.
Responsibilities

Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital located in Virginia Beach on Surgery Unit 5B. Hours/Shift: Full-time, Nightshift, Approximately 7pm to 7am and every other weekend. Department/Position Overview: Join us to see what great teamwork all is about! Our busy 24 bed unit treats patients that are recovering from surgery including general, GYN, colorectal, urology, plastics, vascular and neuro spine. We are focused on getting our patients up and moving. Our patient customer service scores and the longevity of our staff prove this is a great place to work.
Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nurse.
High School Diploma or Equivalent Certification/Licensure American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
Must have one of the following
- Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
- Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
- Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
- Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
- Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT
- Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
One year of prior health care experience preferred.

The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly.
Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
