Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami-Dade County is seeking a Nursing Assistant for Night Shift (7p-7a) to support the infant care and general patient services on the unit. This role includes assisting nurses, front desk coverage, patient transport, and basic patient care under RN supervision.

The ideal candidate will have Florida Nursing Assistant Certification or be pursuing it, CPR certification, a high school diploma, and at least one year of related experience.

Qualifications

• Florida Nursing Assistant Certification preferred; CPR Certification required.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• One year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe environment and adheres to the Infant Security and Abduction Policy.
• Assists nurses with transportation and other duties related to patient care.
• Cross trains as unit secretary; covers front desk when needed, answers patient call system, telephones, monitors infant security.
• Discontinues foley catheters and med locks as directed by RN.
• Assists in preparation of the unit and patient rooms for receiving admissions, transfer and post-operative patients.
• Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning and ambulating patients.
• Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of the patient to the nurse in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates the ability to provide safe care to patients who are: Newborn, Adolescent, Adult.
• Accurately takes vital signs and records in patient record promptly.
• Distributes water, appropriately records correct intake and output when indicated within shift.
• Makes frequent patient rounds at least every two hours.
• Provides patient care as directed by licensed nurse to include but not limited to: enemas, sitz bath, blood glucose monitoring and simple dressing changes.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
