Job summary

White Oak Medical Center, part of Adventist HealthCare, seeks an experienced Patient Care Technician for the Observation Unit to support bedside care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

The role is full-time with a night shift (36 hours/week) and every-other-weekend schedule. Pay range is $19.21–$24.90/hour with benefits including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• CNA or first-year Nursing School program and CNA exam completed.
• Maryland CNA license required.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• English language proficiency (spoken and written) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform vital signs and activities of daily living under RN supervision.
• Follow care plan as established and delegated by RN; receive report from RN.
• Ensure a culture of safety and report malfunctioning equipment; keep areas clean and organized.
• Participate in education programs, meetings, and professional initiatives; commit to ongoing development.

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Patient Care Technician for our Observation Unit who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
As a Patient Care Technician, you will:

• Perform various service duties and routine technical tasks such as vital signs and activities of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Specific duties may vary by area of assignment.
• Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations is required.
• Participates in department and organizational education programs, meetings, committees, and professional initiatives
• Commits to personal, professional development in order to adapt effectively to ongoing change
• Presents a positive and professional image to represent nursing and the organization

Care Delivery

• Follows the care plan as established and delegated by the Registered Nurse
• Receives report from the Registered Nurse
• Ensures a culture of safety
• Identifies and reports malfunctioning/expired equipment and supplies
• Ensures work areas and equipment are cleaned and stored appropriately

Qualifications include:

• High School Diploma required
• Successful completion of a CNA or first year Nursing School Program and successful completion of the CNA exam required
• Maryland CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) License required
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Effective command of English language (spoken and written).
• Physical ability to meet job requirements of lifting, bending and turning.
• Experience in acute care clinical setting preferred.
• Strong computer skills
