Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO, is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support the 4E Neuro department. The role schedules 12 Hour Nights (6:30pm - 7:00am) and involves assisting with patient care under RN/LPN supervision, plus performing designated procedures and non-clinical tasks essential to care.

No prior experience required; a 175-hour PCA training will be provided if needed, and ongoing training will be completed within set timelines.

Qualifications

• Experience: None required. If no previous experience, will be considered for PCA role with a 175-hour training program during new hire orientation; must be completed within 90 days to remain in PCA per state guidelines.
• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or previous patient care experience (PCA, CNA, or nursing student).
• Required Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program; able to participate in Mercy's UAP training; or current Mercy coworker.
• Certifications: BLS required within one month; completion of PCT competencies within 3 months.
• Preferred Certifications: CNA, EMT, AUA, CPCT.
• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements: lift 50 pounds; prolonged standing/walking; grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.

Status: Part-Time, 24 hours/week

Shift: 12 Hour Nights (6:30pm - 7:00am)

This job profile/title may be updated along UAP Career ladder to offer candidate most appropriate role per their individual experience level if additional qualifications are met. UAP Career Ladder positions include Patient Care Associate-PCA, Patient Care Technician-PCT, and Nurse Technician-NT

Qualifications:

• Experience: None required. If no previous experience, will be considered for PCA role in which Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.

• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or previous patient care experience (i.e. PCA, CNA, or active nursing student).

• Required Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum or age 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire, completion of PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.

• Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the state of practice, Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).

• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.

  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
