The University of Virginia Health system in Charlottesville seeks a Patient Care Technician to deliver direct, age-appropriate care under supervision of RNs or licensed practitioners. Maintain safety, hygiene and comfort while following nursing plans of care.
Qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, no prior experience required, and AHA BLS certification (with some substitution rules). Virginia CNA/EMT/LPN or NCCT PCT certification options are listed.
The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and plan of care under the direction of area leadership, RN or licensed independent practitioner.
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required. For team members hired prior to May 11, 2026, certification is not required , as relevant experience will be accepted in its place.
Must have one of the following:
Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only) . Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only) . May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $16.37 - $23.82 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
