Landmark Hospital of Athens is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for day shift. The PCT will provide patient care under the supervision of nursing staff in a long-term acute care setting, emphasizing safety, quality, and communication with the care team.

Responsibilities include basic care tasks, vital signs, documentation, and assisting with patient movement in a team-driven environment. Must have HS diploma/GED and BLS; CNA licensure preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure preferred.
• 1-3 years of related hospital experience.

• Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic care under the direction of licensed nursing staff, including vital signs, intake/output, catheter care, CPR, and documentation.
• Assist licensed nurse in meeting patients' needs in hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and psychosocial support.
• Participate in handoffs and reports with nursing and unit staff, ensuring clear communication.

Summary: The patient care technician or certified nursing assistant will provide patient care under the direction and supervision of nursing. The primary commitment is to the patient, so an important responsibility includes following through with tasks and following up on communication with the nursing and RT staff to help provide optimal patient care. Two weekend monthly requirement, 12 hour shifts.

• Perform basic care skills under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse including vital signs, intake/output measurement, catheter care, CPR, restraint management, bowel and bladder training, and documentation of care in the patient record.
• Responsible for assisting the licensed nurse in meeting the patients' needs in the areas of personal hygiene, personal care, skin care, grooming, rest, activity, nourishment, body mechanics, elimination, and psychosocial support.
• Provide adequate, safe care, maintain knowledge about each patient assigned and participate in reports with nursing and other unit techs. Requires attention to detail related to patient care restrictions and special instructions or issues (diet instructions, fall risk etc.).
