Job summary

Island Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for Acute Care/ICU on the Day Shift (full-time 0.9 FTE). The role involves direct patient care duties in a fast-paced environment, supporting the Acute Care team to ensure quality patient experiences.

Required CNA certification in Washington and current BLS. 3–6 months CNA experience preferred; a high school diploma or GED is preferred. Island Health offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification is required.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification is required.
• 3 to 6 months CNA experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers signal lights and bells to determine patients’ needs.
• Bathes, dresses, and undresses patients.
• Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.
• Transports patients to treatment units using wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or assists them to walk.
• Assist with ambulation.
• Drapes patients for examinations and treatments and assists with instruments and lighting.
• Assist patients to bathroom, bedside commode, or bedpan for toileting.
• Tidy and clean patients’ rooms.
• Washes and dresses bodies of deceased persons.
• Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephones.
• Takes and records vital signs and reports unusual findings to nurse.
• Assists with turning and repositioning patients.
• Reports to RN any abnormal vital signs or changes.
• Places telemetry electrodes accurately when ordered.
• Collects urine and stool specimens for lab, and performs guiac testing.

• Places telemetry electrodes accurately when ordered.
• Collects urine and stool specimens for lab, runs guiac testing

What you will bring to the role:

• Current Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification
• 3 to 6 months previous CNA experience preferred
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
