The Patient Care Technician shall serve as a supportive member of the patient care team, assisting RNs, LPNs, and Physicians in routine and non-complex patient care tasks. Additional duties within the scope of the role may be assigned.
High school graduate or equivalent required. A graduate of a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) is preferred. Completion of the first clinical rotation as a nursing student (e.g., ‘Nursing Fundamentals’ course covering activities of daily living and vital signs) or one year of experience in an acute care, nursing home, or home care setting is preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility for 80% of the workday. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching are required. Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive action. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Work is protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Exposure to computer work, occasional risk of electrical shock, infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, and radiation.
