Job summary

Endeavor Health in Arlington Heights, IL seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Orthopedic Unit (Days). The role is full-time, 36 hours/week, with a Monday-Thursday orientation and 7:00am–7:30pm shifts across 3–12 hour days, every other weekend and holidays.

You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, and report changes to RNs. Must have CNA training, CPR, and a high school diploma; a nursing program enrollment is acceptable.

Qualifications

  • The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of high school is required.
  • Completion of an accredited CNA course and CNA certification exam, EMT or paramedic training, or enrollment in nursing with rotation experience is required.
  • Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with personal care needs under RN/LPN supervision.
  • Assists with mobility, safety, and comfort of patients.
  • Obtains vitals, input/output checks, accu-checks, and reports abnormalities to the nurse.
  • Supports admitting, discharging, and transport duties as directed.

Hourly Pay Range:

$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:
  • Position: Patient Care Technician - Orthopedic Unit ? Days

  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL

  • Full Time | 36 hours/week

  • Must be able to attend a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Orientation from about 8:00am - 4:30pm, during the first week of employment.

  • Hours: 7:00am - 7:30pm (3 - 12 hour shifts), every other weekend and holidays required.

What you will do:
  • Assists patients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc. under the supervision of a RN/LPN.

  • Assists with exercising and ambulating patient; utilizes correct body mechanics while assisting with patient mobility; maintains physical safety and comfort of patient under supervision of a RN/LPN.

  • Obtains patient vital signs, input and output checks, and accu-checks, and reports abnormalities to the nurse. As directed by RN/LPN performs procedures such as EKG?s, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, application of restraints, backrubs, etc. Collects specimens such as urine, feces, sputum, and delivers as necessary. Documents basic patient care into electronic medical record.

  • Assists nursing and clerical staff with admitting, discharging, transferring, ambulating, transporting, and observing patients to ensure safety as directed. Adequately answers unit phones and can effectively direct phone calls to the appropriate parties. May perform duties of an Observation Assistant as needed.

  • Education: The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of high school, required

  • Certification/License: Completion of an accredited CNA course and the successful completion of the CNA certification exam, EMT or paramedics training course, or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with the completion of at least one major clinical medical or surgical rotation required

  • Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association, required.
