Job summary

Gateway Rehab Center (GRC) seeks a dedicated full-time Patient Care Technician to join our Nursing team on the night shift at our inpatient facility in Center Township, PA. You will monitor patient medication self-administration and therapeutic treatments, with supervision and instruction.

The role requires completing medication self-administration training, ensuring accurate documentation, and collaborating with clinical staff to support safe, compassionate care for residents.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant/Nursing Assistant/CNA/Medication Technician or EMT experience.
• PA Criminal Background Check and PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.
• CPR/First Aid training.
• Recovery from substance use disorder for 18+ months is preferred."

Responsibilities

• Completes medication self-administration training.
• Monitors patient medication self-administration and therapeutic treatments.
• Ensures medication documentation is accurate and complete.
• Ensures patients adhere to policies and safe medication practices.
• Conducts patient education on safe medication practices.
• Conducts medication cart audits.
• Documents observations, patient care, and patient interactions.
• Coordinates and collaborates with all departments as necessary.
• Acts as a liaison between clinical staff, medical staff, and patients.
• Assists with crises intervention.
• Documents involvement with patients in progress notes.
• Collects urine and completes paperwork for drug screening as necessary.
• Attend mandatory GRC trainings.

Gateway Rehab Center (GRC) is seeking a dedicated full-time Patient Care Technician to join our Nursing team on the night shift at our inpatient facility in Center Township, PA. You will have the primary responsibility of monitoring patient medication self-administration and therapeutic treatments.

As a Patient Care Technician, you will be an integral part of a compassionate healthcare team dedicated to providing high-quality and personalized care to individuals. This position receives frequent supervision and instruction.

Responsibilities

• Completes medication self-administration training
• Monitors patient medication self-administration and therapeutic treatments
• Ensures medication documentation is accurate and complete
• Ensures patients are adhering to policies and procedures and safe medication practices
• Conducts patient education on safe medication practices
• Conducts medication cart audits
• Documents observations, patient care, and patient interactions
• Coordinates and collaborates with all departments as necessary
• Acts as a liaison between clinical staff, medical staff, and patients.
• Assists with crises intervention.

Requirements

• High School diploma and equivalent.
• Medical Assistant/Nursing Assistant/CNA/Medication Technician or EMT experience.

Other Requirements

• Pass a PA Criminal Background Check.
• Obtain a PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.
• Pass Drug Screen.
• 2-Step TB Test.
• CPR/First Aid training.
• If living a life of recovery, you must attest to at least 18 months in recovery from substance use disorder.

Work Conditions

• This position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for Gateway residents.
• Required to remain awake and alert while on duty.
• Facility treating those with substance use disorders.
• Favorable working conditions.
• Minimal physical demand.
• Moderate mental demands to respond to patients' simultaneous requests.
• Minimal/moderate risk of exposure to blood and body fluids and minimal risk of exposure to respiratory infectious agents.
