Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Medicine Unit. This full-time position operates on a rotating 12-hour shift (three 12-hour shifts per week) with rotating weekends.

The PCT provides direct patient care, supports activities of daily living, and performs phlebotomy and point-of-care testing under RN supervision. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and eligible CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification program or CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent completed or in progress.
• Experience or training in patient care support is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and daily tasks.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, and EKG testing.
• Assist with specimen collection and urinary catheter care as ordered.

Our diverse patient population includes but is not limited to CHF, Sickle Cell, Renal Failure, Vascular, Sepsis, COPD, Pneumonia, Osteomyelitis w/ Surgical Interventions, Wound Care and, an assortment of varying disease processes. Our team is seeking a compassionate Patient Care Technician to support our nursing team! Join our team to help our team deliver excellent patient care!The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
