Job summary

Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA seeks a Patient Care Technician for the third shift. You will support admissions, daily patient care, vital signs, blood draws, and catheter care under nurse supervision to ensure high-quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification as CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Sentara Care Partner Certification Program preferred.
• Navy Hospital Corps School Emergency Services or clinical program experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission and discharge processes.
• Provide daily patient care including bathing, ambulation, and comfort.
• Perform vitals, blood draws, and basic nursing tasks under supervision.
• Assist with Foley catheter care and patient needs in collaboration with nurses.

Overview

As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara Health, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to blood draws and daily care. The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to provide the best care for our patients.

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent

Certification / Licensure

• Must have one or more of the following: Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
• Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Compensation

The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
