Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg Oncology unit. The role is full-time days (7A-7P) with responsibilities including basic patient care, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and Foley catheter management under the supervision of an RN.

Qualifications include HS Diploma or GED, BLS within 90 days, and completion of an approved CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related program, with 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One of the listed certification programs (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Sentara Care Partner, US Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic) or enrolled in a clinical program with relevant experience within last 3 years.

Responsabilités

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and document observations; report changes to RN.
• Assist with mobility, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing and EKGs.
• Perform peripheral IV removal and specimen collection; Foley catheter insertion/removal as needed.
• Uphold patient safety practices under RN direction.

Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.
