Job summary

Columbus Regional Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician II to join the Nurses Resources float pool in Columbus, IN. You will float to inpatient units to ensure nursing coverage and assist with daily living activities, vital signs, and patient comfort.

Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, responding to call lights, and collaboration with nurses to support safety and patient experience. BLS required within 30 days; CNA encouraged but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Verifiable work experience is required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• CNA not required but encouraged for PCT roles.

What you need to know about this position:

• As a member of Nurses Resources (sometimes called the float pool), you are at the core of ensuring we have the nursing staff in the right place at the right to meet the needs of our inpatient units.
• You have the opportunity to "float" to units, giving you the chance to broaden your knowledge and experience.
• As a Patient Care Technician II you play an important role in our patient's experience and safety—you are typically the first face a patient sees when he/she enters the unit and the face he/she sees most frequently. You would also have additional duties to perform unique to the department to include performing cardiac monitoring and interpretation and Stat EKGs and other duties as assigned.
• Working with a nurse, you engage with patients through multiple activities, including answering call lights and questions, providing assistance with daily living activities and taking vital signs.
• The base hourly rate for this position is $17.99. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience and does include shift differentials and premium pay as applicable. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
• The dayStudent Flex position (7:00am-7:30pm) is not benefit eligible but is ideal for our current students who need flexibility with scheduling. Employees in this position are eligible for our Educational Sponsorship program in accordance with the qualifications of it's plan.

What is required for this position:

• Upon hire, you must have:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Verifiable work experience.
  • Health care-related work experience is preferred.
• Within 30 days of hire you must have:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• While being a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is not required, we encourage CNAs to apply for our Patient Care Tech (PCT) positions.

(If you do not have it, CRH provides training and time to acquire certification after employment.)
